Private Piano Lessons

...for ages 5 and up

Our goal with private piano students is to find out which method works best for you or your child. We are really up to date on the latest teaching methods as well as the variety of ways piano can be taught.

For example:

• Some work best using inspiring orchestral/band CD backgrounds that produce BIG sounds while only playing 4 notes.

• Some are too easily distracted by background music and prefer the beauty of simplicity.

• Fast progressors need a challenging song they absolutely burn to learn

• Slow progressors need lots of sight reading one level lower than their current level to speed up note reading without frustration (like "this is too hard; I wanna quit" syndrome). We can help avoid this disease by making sure the slower progressing student doesn't move to the harder level until the current level they are on becomes easy. After all...remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare? Speed isn't the indicator of who will eventually be a beautiful piano player.

• Had a really rough week last week and didn't get to practice? It happens once in a while. As long as it doesn't become habit forming there's lots we can do during your lesson and still be 100% productive in learning piano; but you'll go home with your brain fried and determined to practice for the next one!
